Excellent movie.....not for younger crowds though - The Passion of the Christ Reviews
In a word.....wow. This movie, for someone who has been lived in a religious family ( quite literally, both of my parents are United Methodist Ministers) is amazing. Very powerful, and very explicit imagery is present all throughout the movie. A word of advice however. DO NOT TAKE YOUR YOUNG CHILDREN TO SEE THIS MOVIE UNTIL YOU HAVE SEEN IT YOURSELF!! Myself being a fairly rounded 18yr old, found some of the scenes in this movie to be almost too much. Instead, go yourself(-selves) and decide if your child is ready for a movie of this type/magnitude.
I only have 1 real gripe about the movie. It only tells the story of the 12 hours leading up to the death of Jesus Christ. Going into the movie (without having read any reviews about it) I had figured on another movie along the lines of "Jesus of Nazereth", and was kind of looking forward too it. Also....the movie leaves short of the Resurrection...instead showing Jesus's body disappearing in the tomb, then reappearing next to his burial shroud, then fades to black. I found myself almost wishing I could see the interaction between the angels and mary, or Doubting Thomas's interaction with Jesus.
Overall, I would give this movie a A++. The Visual effects....when needed, were excellent, and the acting was also superb. Well done!!
